He'll be comin' round the mountain when he comes.
In fact, clear around the Uintah Mountain Range, the highest mountain range in the 48 states that runs east and west and has the highest peak in Utah, Kings Peak at 13,534 feet.
After my trip last month to Mt. Rushmore with one of my grandsons my oldest granddaughter, Rachelle, age 15, wanted to go on one. Just an overnighter. So we did. Here's the map of the loop we made around the mountain range. Interactive map here: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Kama...3007!3e0?hl=en We headed up over the west end of the Uinta Mountain Range over Bald Mountain Pass at 10,715 feet. Then dropped down a bit to Mirror Lake. Rachelle took this picture on our hike around the lake. This is just one of the little coves. Together at Mirror Lake with Old Henry. We left the paved road before we got to Evanston and headed for the ghost town of Piedmont, WY, once a thriving railroad and logging town https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piedmont,_Wyoming. Now these few homes and buildings are all that's left. Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=steV...m-upload_owner Three and a half of the five charcoal kilns built there are still standing. Thirty feet tall and 30 feet in diameter. They made charcoal for the railroad to burn in the passenger cars. From Piedmont we drove the Muddy Creek Scenic Backway to Fort Bridger. One of the most interesting things to me at Fort Bridger was this elaborate gravestone for Thornburgh, the fort mascot, that did many heroic deeds earning him an honored burial and grave at the fort. From there we headed to Manilla, UT, pop. 322, the only town in Dagget County, to stay for the night. The next day we headed for Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area and dam on a very scenic road. Eventually we climbed up to this view of Sheep Creek Canyon on Flaming Gorge reservoir. After touring down into the dam we headed home through a handful of very small rural towns on the south side of the Uintas, eventually back up over Wolf Creek Pass. Where the temperature dropped to 66° F from the 86° it was at the lower elevation that day. Total 571 miles in two days. Only mechanical problem was the stick I use to hold the hood up that I keep in front of the radiator worked itself out through the grill and got away. Took some nice video. Will edit and add later. Re: He'll be comin' round the mountain when he comes.
Many thanks for your postings and the memories your family will always cherish. BTW: I notice that you have the stainless (??) trim bar on your trunk. Do you have any water leaks via the mounting holes? If not, what did you use to seal the holes? Thanks!!!!!

Re: He'll be comin' round the mountain when he comes.
Are you using a 94 or a 97 carb? What jets are you running at that altitude?
How well does it run at that altitude? Thanks for posting your adventures.,..jack

Did you have any heating problems on your trip? What wonderful experience you are having, very jealous of your trips, wish I had the courage to do the same. your grandkids will always remember these trips. Best of times.

Re: He'll be comin' round the mountain when he comes.
Wow, looked like a great trip, lots of good memories. 571 miles in two days is that about how many miles you cover on your other trips? Just wondering how many miles a comfortable day of driving averages.

Thanks for pointing that out. I hate being stupid. I deleted that part of the story.

Re: He'll be comin' round the mountain when he comes.
No leaks. Did nothing to seal the holes. I think the trim is pulled down tight enough to keep water away from the holes.

Re: He'll be comin' round the mountain when he comes.
I'm using the 97. I think I have 49 jets in them. They work fine at altitude. Of course, the higher we go the lower the power. Hardly noticeable though. The main effect of altitude is vapor lock. Above 8,000 feet I have to run the electric fuel pump constantly.
