Type F tranny fluid for 51 Custom?
Hey, I'm new to this 51 Custom so need to ask some dumb questions. O'Reilly says Type F for this automatic transmission. Is that right?

There is also some types that are marked as type FA. Either will work for the Ford-O or Cruise-O type Borg Warner transmissions.

I missed something, when did you get a '51 custom and where are the photos?

Did you find the fuel problem with the '51. Wondering the problem was?

It was his understanding that the car has never been painted, upholstered, nor drive line worked. It had 63,000 original miles. Seems to me like it may well qualify for a three point Rouge award. Here's the story on that: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...ight=51+custom

Re: Type F tranny fluid for 51 Custom?
The main problem with keeping it running when it warmed up was the fuel line. I had it replaced and now it runs fine, once it's started. I'm now having a problem starting it when it is hot. I believe it's vapor lock but it doesn't resolve when cooled. I've just ordered a flex hose with check valve from Bob Shewman to see if that helps. It's still not driving reliably enough for me to recommend it to buyers or to even drive it around town with For Sale signs on it.

Re: Type F tranny fluid for 51 Custom?
Henry, is it boiling the fuel out of the carb when it sets hot?

Re: Type F tranny fluid for 51 Custom?
No. Because the engine will start and run for a minute before it uses up the fuel in the carb but doesn't get any new from the pump.
