Points sets are all suspect now days but even those are at the mercy of the condenser chosen. I still order the Echlin brand out of hope and desperation. The CS754 points and the FA76 condenser should work.

Spark plugs are like motor oil. Everyone has a favorite brand but I don't know if any are better than the other. Some use the NGK brand (NGK 3112) and some use Autolite 216 but then again the Champion 844 & 854 are still around. AC C45L plugs are out there too. NGK seem to be favored these days.

Oil filters are are an item where I don't compromise. I'd use the Wix 51004 or the NAPA Gold 1004 if it still has a cartridge type filter bowl. If it's a conversion spin on type then a person needs the recommended filter for that.

For the spin on, most books will say a Motorcraft FL1A. They are big and really tough to get in between steering and clutch linkage, and still miss the exhaust. Then use an FL400. Same threads, same gasket, smaller overall size, but made for a much newer engine, so it actually has a finer mesh inside.

The Echlin brand points and condenser are what I've been using. Haven't had a problem with points but you can't get a decent condenser of any brand anymore. All made overseas. So are points and they are substandard, but at least the Echlin points don't have the contacts falling off the swivel-arm.
I buy 3 condensers at a time. You might get lucky and have the first one work for you, but keep a spare in the glove-box just in case (along with screwdriver and 5/16" wrench).
If it gets real hot outside, don't use the car except for short trips then back home. Substandard materials used in the modern condensers can't take the heat.
Been using NGK plugs last couple decades. They are a good plug.

If your old condenser seems to be working ok, stick with it.
