A 1936 coupe followed me home over the weekend
Found just north of town, this old original 36 Ford coupe. This car came out of Montana, where it had sat in a barn a since 1958. The guy I got it from bought it about 10 years ago. He decided he'll never do anything with it so put it up for sale. I was the sucker that came along...
It's a standard model. Someone was proud of the ol car though, it has sealed beam lights, 1932 Buick fender lights mounted on the fender, Motorola radio and a grill gaurd. It's a pretty clean old car, has some typical rot but with the exception of the trunk handle and hood ornament, it is complete. The engine turns over, we will see if it will run! As you guys know, finding a car like this untouched is getting scarce. I imagine this is what the cars looked like in the 60's-70's guys were buying for 25.00-50.00. I've been cleaning on it all weekend. I sure enjoy bringing an old car back to life! This is where it sat for the last year. Under a tarp on the back of a rollback. Better then down in the mud I guess

I have to ask. How much did you pay to steal this treasure? I paid 3 grand for half as much car with 3 times the rot.

Welcome to the world of the '36, if you keep it.
Let's start the list: grille, rear fender bottoms, and tailpan...........check. If I know you you've got a bead on a cherry grille already. Now, about those head lights...........have I got a trade for you.

Boy, they look good in a rain storm. I'd love to have. I had 2 35 coupes but never found a 36 that I could afford. Walt

Chris, you seem to be able to find some good ones. It would seem that you apply the same criteria that I do, (or would like to do) that is, buy as complete a car as possible. I find it easier to fix what I have than to find what I do not have.
It looks like a solid enough beginning, a diamond in the rough. I'm sure you will get it knocked into shape in no time. Mart. |

Beautiful car with great patina. If it were mine, I would get it running, brake job, upholstery and a roof, then drive it. Ain't nothing like an old original car.

Yeah, it's always nice to find as complete and nice of car as your budget allows. I've brought home both ends of the spectrum. This car just needed saved. It's current condition sitting out was not doing it any good.

Better be careful Chris!
I think there's a limit to how many cool old cars one guy can own and you must be gettin' near the limit. Great find Keep up the good work! |
