Anyone know of a good Mustang forum?
A friend of mine is having trouble with his 64 1/2.To be more specific, the dust covers/seals for the disc brake calipers.I tried some searches here on The Barn but couldn't find what he needed. Thanks. Gene

Re: Anyone know of a good Mustang forum?
He could try "allfordmustang.com" and see if he can get any help. This forum is not nearly as active as here on the barn though. His problem will be finding out what kind of brakes have been installed after the fact. I don't believe disc brakes were offered till later in the sixties .All the early mustangs we have had and currently own have drums. Good luck!

Scott, the forum you mentioned is much better than the one I know of. Took a quick look. Sorry about the incorrect info on early Mustang dics. I guess just because I have never come across them doesn't mean they weren't available. We have had several and have a 68' currently. Probably got the bare bones models.

As you can see from this pic from 2006 when it left after 19 years here putting me in that car was like the old 50#'s of xxxx in a 10# sack . Had to squeeze my knee between the steering wheel and door panel to let the clutch out . Head rubbed the roof always . Anywayz speaking of brake parts issues this car had sat since 1971 [ that's factory paint and even tires ] and needed the rubber stuff in the calipers and master cyl replaced and being a 69 if had all the weird stuff and it was a NIGHTMARE even back in 1986 . Forums like these would have been a HUGE help . Sorry I am of no help on your question but thought this old horse may be interesting . |

Re: Anyone know of a good Mustang forum?
VMF (vintage mustang forum) is large and active, very helpful similar to Fordbarn. We relied on it a lot when we converted our '65 from a C-4 auto to T5 5 speed. Car has stock factory 4-piston vented front discs and they are amazingly good! Very early '65 with 5-bolt bellhousing pattern 289
