Default need advice on my cam choice for my shoe box

Hi everyone

I'm working on our familly car, a ford 1950 shoe box with original 8ba and 3 speed transmission

I have now upgraded the 3 speed to a 3 + OD, and I m now thinkin of installing the original fenton dual carb with 2, 94. I m familiar with hot rod flathead as I build several french flatheads and after tried a lot of different cams, my favourite is the Literio L100. in a light car it is a wonderfull cam but not my favourite choice for a heavy car. we drive the car almost evryday as well as long road trip and I d'like to keep as much torque as possibleat low rpm but would like a bit more of power also.

What do you think of this combination

8Ba
Dual 94 on a fenton
Dual economy headers ( already on the car)
Electronic distrib ( pertronix)
Potvin 3/4 cam (256° duration and .320 lift
1007b isky?
Max 1 ?
Howard M6?

Other?

Here is a picture of the car

Get charlie or bubba to set up a chevy distributor for you. If you're going 12 volt you can add pertronix.

Where you say "electronic distributor (petronics)" if you're talking a stock loadamatic with a petronics convertion, this is not good with twin carbs or a different cam. It won't work properly. Go for a converted chevy ignition with centrifugal AND vacuum advance. Charlie Ny can sort you out if you're looking at getting one from the US, he's much more comfortable doing the vacuum advance, bubba not as much, he prefers to do centrifugal only. Others can do it to.
As for cam choice for a heavy car, the L100 is still a good choice, but works much better with high compression. Look up Richard from Florida's posts, he ran a heavy sedan with a 276, L100 cam (kiwi can sort this cam for you) high compression heads, converted chevy ignition with centrifugal and vacuum, 5 speed trans and an edelbrock 4bbl, got good mpg, and by all accounts pulled like a freight train.
Martin.

For a family cruiser Shoebox, maybe the '53 EAB cam would be a good choice.

If the engine is stock, dont us a cam with a very long duration as it bleads of low end torque, bad for a heavy car. If however it's bore and stroked any of those cams will worj fine,

I know for the distributor, I already have a SBC distrib with pertronix.

For the cam, I didn t know about the duration, I should go with a 1007b in that case

Isky 1007b Duration : 256
Lift .355
@.50 236/236
Overlap 111

If you want the stock look and add a little extra get a set of EAB heads and camshaft and mill the heads a bit.
