Default modern car question

Sorry but you guys are my best resource

I have a 2007 GM car, with a power steering leak. Until I have time to investigate I want to add fluid. The manual states use GM fluid (part 89021184). Can I just go to auto store or wallmart and buy a generic brand?

Also what's your opinion of Lucas power steering stop
Leak?

Again sorry for non-Ford Question

Thanks Andy

Get some power steering 'stop leak' fluid. I had a problem with the power steering pump on my '63 Studebaker Avanti, had it 'professionally rebuilt', didn't stop the leak... Added a can of Lucas 'stop leak', problem solved...

Used Lucas on the daughters toy car rack leak. Fixed it! Five years later she traded it in.

My daughters Jeep Cherokee had a PS leak at the box and she needed to buy some time till she can afford a new box. She put Lucas in it and it cured the problem.

I've always used Lucas products and to me they are the best for stopping leaks.

I believe all those "stop leak" products have something in them to soften the seals and that is how they work.

i think if you read the power steering fluid containers, they will say whether compatible with which vehicles.....should find one compatible with GM vehicles....good luck....Mike
