This is indeed very sad news - a nicer man you could ever want to meet. He was true to his family, to his friends and to the hobby. Our condolences to his family and friends - he will be missed, there is no doubt about that. Rest in peace, Paul ....

I'm floored! I just got a PM from Paul Tuesday night in which he said, "I am still in AZ. Having a ball doing roadster things." My thoughts and prayers go out to Marge and family. We all just lost one super guy.

I used to have a repair shop on Cape Cod, Paul would come by sometimes and we would talk old Fords. I had not seen him since I moved away, but followed him on the Barn. He was a great guy, and 100% a gentleman. I am truly saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to his wife and family.

I think the legacy Paul leaves is that of a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. I have yet to hear or meet a person who knew Paul that did not have only good things to say about him. He was a true gentleman, man how he loved his family, and his AV8 Roadster. I'm glad he was in Arizona and having a ball, able to drive his roadster with his wife. My thoughts and prayers to Marge and his family. LouB.

I've been working in my shop all day, it's 5:15 pm. right now. I just had 2 calls out in my shop about Paul. I couldn't believe it. He just e-mail me a couple of days ago. He called me 2-3 time from AZ this winter. I had to come right in the house and check the barn. Paul was a very good friend, he would come up to Me. 3-4 time every summer. I feel so bad I'm fighting back tears and feel sick. I feel bad for Marge, they both were the best people you'll ever meet. RIP Walt

My strongest condolences to all who were close to Paul.

Although I did not know him personally, he seemed like a nice guy to know. I'm sorry to hear of his passing so suddenly. I enjoyed reading his posts, as I do reading others here. It's like a close knit family here, and is so sad to lose a member of the family. I will say a prayer for his wife and all the members of his family. He will be missed!

Hard to believe, My condolences to Marg and the family.. I met Paul about 10 years ago as a customer. when he wanted a 21 stud engine for his roadster. Years later when I had to move my shop, he was one of the first to volenteer to help. He and a bunch of friends from Mass, RI and Ct showed up for a week end to move everything. Paul always had a smile on his face, a good friend and he will sueeeeeeeeerely be missed.

It seems odd to feel such loss about someone I never met but I do. I knew him, as many did, through his stories and images and the outpouring of support when he needed it. For me, he was living the dream, too. He never knew he touched so many lives....

Gosh, it is so sad when we hear that someone has driven that "final mile." Paul was a fine human being. May he rest in peace and prayers and condolences to all his family.

One of the most active people on the board, and full of interesting questions and knowledge.
JWL has it right...when you have to go, you are really lucky to check out while enjoying friends, family, and old Fords and not in a hospital with tubes down your throat. Most of the people I have lost would have given anything for that difference I think.
My condolences to his family, may God be with you. Think of the good times, and from here it looks like his life held more good times than most.

It would be nice if someone would direct these messages or maybe a copy of these messages to Paul's family (all but one message here that is). Maybe not right away, but after the family has more time to grieve. I think his wife and other family members would really appreciate reading these posts and knowing how much we all thought of Paul.

I had seen Paul's car at various meets in New England, but didn't meet him until last summer at the Loring Timing Association land speed races. He arrived in his AV8 with his young grandson as “navigator”, and I immediately realized that only a very big-hearted person would do such a wonderful thing for a child.

Its funny how you can feel a kinship with someone you never had the pleasure of meeting. He wll be sorely missed on the 'Barn. We can all take this as a call to drive our old Fords more and procrastinate less. May God be with him and his family.

I'm so sorry for Paul's family.....I saw his car at the GNRS this year, but didn't hook up with him. I'd hoped to run into him at the Pavillions' car show in Scottsdale before he headed back east. I'll really miss his posts.

Like a lot of folks on here lately I've been reflecting on my relationship with my car pal Paul Howard AKA AV8Paul. Tonight I was looking at some photos and video of our time spent together during Speed Week in 2008 and thought I'd share this video I took while riding in Paul's roadster on the salt. At the time the ride meant alot as Paul had been promising me for years that he'd take me for a topless ride. The memory means even more than words can describe now.

Thanks for the memories Paul. I'm sure gonna miss you.

Certainly a great loss to his family including the Barn. I think such notificaton of the passing of one of our family belongs on this net. Surely we get enormous help about springs, carbs and how our iron is supposed to be, but 1000 times over we get help in our heads. We can ask anything about our cars, (And not only eV-8 as well,) and folks can't wait to help us. So many times I'm stuck and with a short note I get so much support. Someone has been there before us and is willing to share the results. A plea for hep from an FNG always brings us out. I hope all know how good I feel after someone helps me with my peeekup challenges. Now with Paul fixin HIS ride, we need to share what one family member meant to several of us. Actually don't ever forget to thank someone from the Barn for their help while they are still here to know they done good for you.

Roadster on AV-8 Paul,

Clem

Sure is a great loss. I never met Paul but won't ever forget his photo report of the trip to Bonneville and back. This is a classic and if someone has it please post it again. His posts were always informative and I've saved many. Condolences to his family. He will be missed.

Althought I did not know Paul, it's always sad to hear of a fellow Fordbarn Member and Flathead enthusiast leave us. I took the opportunity though to look up his profile and enjoyed the photo's he shared there, of other favorite things he like to do, and pictures of his grandkids, Colin, and newest grandson of the family Frankie IV. I also saw that Paul had a link which entailed an article of his bio and let you know a little bit about who Paul was, take the time, worth the read. Cut and paste the link below:
