Default 40 ford pickup shocks

My 40 P/u has a set of tube shocks on the rear, and lever arms in the front. I don't know if this is correct or not. The rears are attached to the frame by a sheet metal bracket bolted through the frame tilting the shock forward of the rear axle by maybe 20 degrees. The bottom is attached nicely by some cast iron bracket from the rear wishbone attachment on the rear backing plate. My round about question is when I look at the front to consider tube shocks is it possible to remove the connecting link where it attaches to the perch bolt use this hole and simply go straight up to the frame with some sort of bracket bolted to the frame. Placing a tube shock by hand it looks like everything would clear, is it that simple or am I missing something.

It is pretty simple. Here are a couple of bracket examples.
Using the first example I've attached to the same place the lever shocks bolted to.
The second example came with a front shackle that had a stud to attach the shock to. Chassis Engineering in West Branch Iowa supplies the complete kit for the second one.

The first bracket in the photo will need a tapered shock stud to fit into the eye of the 40 axle pin. You can use a standard shock mount pin and taper the shank in a lathe to fit the hole in the pin.
