There were several made that are all simillar but different. There are photos of them in the restoration book put out by the early V-8 Ford Club. I highly recommend getting a copy. If you have one of these jacks already send me a picture or post it and I'll try to identify it for you. I have the last one made available for my '47 coupe (the mechanism is a pressed type) and a buddy of mine has one for his '46 convertible (a cast type). These are very easy to get confused and also very expensive to buy as they were optional items for the '47-'48's and not many are available in good shape. Good luck with your project!

From the Early Ford V8 Club book mentioned:

I have a 8A-17080-A2 jack, what would the correct round handle look like for this type of jack?

According to the information I posted, the 51A-17080-C3 was introduced August 25, 1947, just before yours was made in September 1947, and used until 1/12/48. So, that would be your jack.

If the bumper jacks were optional extras for the U.S. 1947 - 1948 cars I wonder if this applys to Canadian cars, if so no wonder these jacks are now hard to find.
Would the round handle have a flat on one end to remove the hubcap and on the other end a socket the same size as the wheelnuts.
