No Neutral! How to adjust?
26 Ford Model T....How in the world do I adjust the trans and linkage to get absolute neutral? I am flabbergasted on this particular problem. How do I adjust the High/low pedal and the linkage to the brakes? I have no neutral even if I unhook the linkage! Is there a set screw on the side of the tranny? Is it the bolt that sticks down from the one lever onto the cross-member arm? What the Hell?

Re: No Neutral! How to adjust?
With linkage undone and forward creep, it sounds to me like the low speed band is too tight, and is in need of adjustment.
If, after backing off the lock nut on the shaft that sticks out of the right side of the hogshead, then back off (counter clockwise) the shaft itself at least three revolutions, then tightening everything up - and you still get a forward creep, you have tranny issues. And those would require lots of mechanical elbow grease: remove the engine, for starters, and it gets worse from there. But what do I know.... |
