Actually Chandler - Groves was a '38 model. However, there is little doubt some of them found their way on to 1939 Fords (assembly line).
Holley produced carburetors for 1939 Fords and are marked with an "H" on the side of the accelerator pump housing. Ford produced their own carburetors as well. Those have an "F" on the side of the accelerator pump housing.

As to whether or not your 91-99 is worth saving... depends on condition of course. If there are good parts remaining, then yes, it's worth saving.

YES ken ct. Judging wise in ev8c 39 is supposed to have a CG carb not a holley-ford. Every 39 Ford owner ive talked to in the past 20 yrs wants a CG carb on it for judging.and an off-set hole fuel pump these are required on a 39 for judging. ken ct.

Regardless of the number of folks that desire C-D's for their '39s, the fact remains that the C-D is not correct for most 39's. As I've stated previously there is little doubt some found there way on to '39s in production. However, by very late '38 Ford was no longer purchasing their 85HP carburetors from C-D.
Case in point:
I find numerous owners of '40 Fords asking for incorrect parts. Throughout the past years there has been lots of misinformation that has become 'fact' simply by as many times as it has been repeated.
Thanks to an immeasurable amount of current research and subsequent documentation, we as restorers are able to better and more authentically restore our vehicles than just a few years ago.
Unfortunately it will require time and efforts by those that actually care enough (to undertake an as authentic restoration as possible) to debunk many of these 'myths'.

(Example) Question:
How many '39s are on the concourse with upper radiator hoses emblazoned with the orange part number, Ford script AND the metal support beneath the hose?
Answer:
Most.
Fact: NO part numbers were on these hoses installed on the production line. No exterior supports were on these hoses either.

I have a 39 pickup and I know there are some questionable items on the truck. Is there an authenticity manual for these trucks as there is for the 37 Ford?

You may find many answers in the '38 - '39 book published by the Early Ford V8 Club of America.
It (the book) is dedicated to passenger cars. However, as you know, many passenger car things (especially drive train) are the same as the light trucks.
