Default 1940-47 Ford pickup cab info

Anybody ever tried putting a 40-47 pickup cab on a 42-48 car frame?

Wont work. The frame is about 3" too wide. Unless you want to do a lot of slicing and dicing.

The '40 & '41 cabs are narrow. The newer cabs are wider.

same cab, with a few changes, on 40 to 47 cabs. Most changes are to where/how front fenders attach to cab. pick up frames from 1942 up are ladder type, open drive line, and 2" longer

Yup, I was wrong. I forgot that Ford used the same narrow box as the '39/'39 but made up the difference with a offset in the fender.

38 to 41 bed and fenders are the same. The 42 to.47 bed is wider in the headboard tailgate and crossmembers. Fenders on 42 to 47 are the same width as 38 to 41 just different at the running board and lack of spare tire dimple. .the bed sides are the same 38 to 47 with minor changes like the area for the gas fill pipe on 38 to 41 but none on 42 to 47
The guy was asking about using a 42 to.48 car chassis which is too wide and all together different then a 42 to 52 pu frame.
