Timing Problem Discovered
Just a note to share our experiences... We just brought home a rather nice 29 coupe that my brother bought. It would not run well, kept backfireing... sometimes through the exhaust, sometimes through the carburetor. Figured it was timing, but why did it keep changing? We opened the distributor and timed it according to Marco's instructions...Thanks for that...
We loosened the point cam and repositioned it and it ran fine, for about 30 seconds. Then, it did it again. After further inspection, we discovered that the lock washer under the cam screw was missing. Also, the flat washer under the cam was missing. The result was that the screw would tighten on the shaft, but would not lock the cam.... Parts on order, but problem solved. Thought this might help others with a similar problem.. Frank |
