Default Doodlebug

I acquired a running/driving 27 T chassis from a rat rodder so I decided to build a doodlebug, I am trying to put in a 28 A trans behind the T trans, how did they couple the them together ? I found a spare A rear u joint which fits the A input shaft and am thinking of welding a short piece of 7/8 square shaft into the u joint which will slide in the output of the T trans . The next thing is to shorten the A driveshaft and torque tube at the pinion end (I am using an A rear end btw) . I don't want to butcher the T drive shaft if I can help it. Am I on the right track ????
