Default 1907 model R motor

Know that this site is for T's
just wondering if anyone knows the similarity of the R and T motors.

I have an R and the motor is going to need some work.
Does anyone come recommended for rebuilding these?

Best bet is to contact the Early Ford Registry, or join, you could get respectable leads from the members.

Have fun with your early Ford.

Bill Westerfelt in Waterford, Michigan does early brass rebuilds. He owns some Brush cars, and did a complete rebuild on my dads '11 Maxwell. Ran like a swiss watch, as they say. Does the majority of the rebuilds for the HCCA cars in the area. I am sorry to say that I don't have any contact info, but he can't be too hard to find.

I love the car just the way it is now! Except for the seat cushions, I think it has re-aged very nicely if it had been restored.

Thank you guys!

Car has not been touched sine 1940, so ain't gonna touch it now, other then get it running right.
Came from a car dealer outside of NYC.
Grandfather started with Ford, went to Dodge and grandson now sells Chevys and Cadillacs.

Gonna leave the seat cushions as they are, till nothings left and then maybe, go over them....
I found used tires at Hershey 3 years ago and replaced the petrified ones that were on there. (sawzall came in handy!)

I had my Model A engine rebuilt by Schwalms in Strasburg PA. While I was there, he was working on a Model N engine. It was all apart and on shelves, and I couldn't believe how delicate looking the crankshaft was. Very lightweight. I don't know how many N R S engine's he's done, but I know he's done at least one! And he does a fine job on Model A engines, so I'm sure his craftsmanship would not change on an earlier engine.

Bill Westervelt: his email is [email protected]. My HCCA roster shows he lives in Birmingham, MI, a suburb of Detroit.

Thank you for all the leads.
I am having fresh rings installed at the moment and going from there....
They were disintegrated and hoping that just maybe, the rest of engine will be alright. If not, will check out everyone's leads.
Much appreciated for the info.
Looking forward to "cruising" locally to the supermarket.

PS you folks rock!
As of today, you have given me several leads-not one response on the Earlyfordregistry
Don't think they've woken up over there....

There isn't much written detailed information available on these pre T Fords. I found these couple of web pages that have more detailed information than I've ever found on some of the working of a Model N: http://jupiter.plymouth.edu/~trentb/...62/ModelN.html Really worth a couple of minutes.
