blown flathead
Took our dragster to the strip on fri and sat for the meeting,we did 12 passes all up,this is the first time we have run since bringing it back form New Zealand,
It ran a PB of 9.46 at 139mph.all this with two cyls with 11% leakdown, won the final, unbeknown to me the driver of the other car lost it at the 1/8 mile and crossed into my lane and missed my wheelie bar by inches. When we got the car back to the pits, the convertor seal had blown and there was a pool of tranny fluid underneath, the tranny has earned its keep as it has done 4yrs. All in all ,a great two days . Yes mike, my boy has been driving the car for a couple of yrs,I drove on the weekend for the first time in two yrs, it was a bit loose for the first couple of launches, but after we got the tyre pressures the same it was OK.

We are using an early 70.s GM three speed auto called a trimatic here in Australia.I made it up myself with a home made trans brake.
I,m trying top post a pic but this new flicker thing is a pain.Lawrie |
