Model B Head
I cannot find the post again.... I was reading a post that refered to a certain Model B head talked about in a past copy of Secrets of Speed.
It sounded like the head was a diamond head, "C" stamped with ford script, and maybe a highter compression ratio. Apparently it was different from the "B" head, what's different? Second question, can the B head be milled to achieve a better compression ratio with out compromising the piston to head clearance? Last edited by CA Victoria; 07-07-2011 at 05:33 PM. |

Re: Model B Head
There was a "diamond" block which only meant that it was cast as a service replacement block after the production run ended. As to the "C" head, Ford only made one head for the model B engine and it had a large C cast into it. There was nothing special about it as it was the only one produced. Ford made a high compression head for the model A and it had a large B cast into it to denote it from the standard model A head. There was no such thing a a C engine. It just happens that Ford had already used the letter B on the model A, therefore for easy identification for parts people, the moel B head had the next letter, C cast into it. Some later aftermarket heads did not have the C. However the B engines 32 to 34 left the Rouge plant with a C cast into them.
