Re: Sediment Bowl gasket??
Ethanol eats gas tanks and gaskets. Find cork.

Re: Sediment Bowl gasket??
Is this the cast iron bowl, or the clear glass bowl?
Parts are available for both, such as the filter screens and gaskets. The cast iron bowl takes a lead ring for the gasket. |

Its glass. And I'm trying to get it running just to move it to storage . I can't find parts locally and would need to ship overseas. |

Re: Sediment Bowl gasket??
I bought of roll of cork/rubber gasket material from Fleet Farm so I can cut my own gaskets.
I'd think any good auto parts store would have a gasket for this, but maybe not anymore. |

Re: Sediment Bowl gasket??
I bought several gaskets from Bratton's a few years ago and they swelled up and all failed. I called and spoke to them about it. They said that what they were supplying was not good and sent me replacements. Ethanol gasoline was the problem. The new gaskets worked well and I use only pure gasoline now. Try Bratton's.

Re: Sediment Bowl gasket??
I do not remember the exact time frame but in the last 8 or 10 years there were two kinds of gaskets for the glass bowls.
1. Rubberized cork gasket. 2. Black Neoprene gasket. I used the Neoprene one ... with in a short time it started to leak. Upon removing the bowl I found the Neoprene gasket had turned to a sloppy "silicone rubber" looking goop and was deformed enough so it could not be reused.. I then tried the Cork one. It worked much better ie it did not leak ... I am not sure how long they last as I decided to put a cast-iron bowl back on the tank. |
