Recently, I had to disconnect the battery from my 1930 Model A Deluxe Coupe, thinking the 6-volt battery needed to be replaced (would not turn over the engine). Battery checked out to be good.

When I reconnected the battery, three(3) things were observed. One, I was able to start the engine. Two, the turn signal switch indicator light was on and in red, as if I had the "flashers" on. And three, I have NO low beam headlights in position 5 o'clock of the light switch. I do have High Beam in the 4 o'clock position, OFF in the 6 o'clock position and Cowl/Parking lights in the 7 o'clock position.

Not only am I puzzled, but I do not know where to start to determine the source of my problem.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I'd start with a look at the problem circuit the head light connection for the "Low beams".
Could be a short in a lot of other places as well.

Thank you for your responses. You both were thinking the basics.

I now have low beams. Started checking for issues at the headlight bulbs. Bulbs checked out OK. Next checked for voltage at the headlamp bulb sockets. Had power on High Beam, but not Low Beam. Inadvertently, in checking for voltage, I pushed in the wire contact in the socket for the low beam. BINGO - I had power. Apparently in both headlights, the bulb's contact points were not making good contact with the wiring connector.

Now, I need to figure out my turn signal switch, as to why the red indicator light remains on. Appears I am getting some electrical back feed from some source. Fortunately I have a "shut off' switch, otherwise the turn signal switch would constantly draw voltage and run down my battery.

A-Man, check the connection of the turn signal at the brake switch. I know I had an issue in the past with one of my cars. Glad to hear the low beams are working. Good Luck. Jeff
