Re: Vac Wiper
Skip the wiper unless you're going to have your car judged. You could just paint it and install a short piece of tubing from your windshield frame to the wiper. Get some RainX.

Re: Vac Wiper
Tried... failed... Contacted Robert Ficken. Got mine fixed at a reasonable price with a three year warranty. His turn around time was pretty quick, too.

Re: Vac Wiper
I tried it twice and th rebuild kits were very bad. The leather around the paddle was poor. Just had John Holland rebuild mine.

Re: Vac Wiper
You may want to give Bob at A&L a call. He has rebuilt lots of these. The one that I bought from him works perfectly.

Re: Vac Wiper
I have tried two kits for my Trico vacuum wiper and neither kit did the job. I finally put the original (to me) paddle back in.
The one thing that did work for me was to grease the chamber with a silicone base O ring and rubber lubricant. It is very thick and the wiper has worked now for a year or so. It is the same lube as used on swimming pool O rings for the pump and can be purchased from a pool supplier. I the next time I have a problem I am going to send the wiper out for proper repair. I too had good luck with the kit from A&L. I rebuilt mine, never did one before, and works like a charm. Bob tells you how to peen over the leather and lube it so you get a tight fit. His number is 860-693-2620. Good luck, Dennis/CT

Re: Vac Wiper
Not to "hijack" the thread here, but has anybody found a 6v replacement that will work and still be able to open the windsheild on my c/c pickup ?
All the motors I've seen out there say you can't open the windshield. I'm almost thinking of going the manual wiper and rainx route, (kind of 'truck correct' anyway) |

Re: Vac Wiper
Thanks guys. Guess I lucked out with the wiper I just got. Put a lttle oil down the vaccum tube, turned it several times and let it set for a day... then tried it on my friends Sedan..it seems to work fine.
