Default Great MARC meet

I just got home from the MARC meet outside of Cincinnati. We were fortunate to have good weather. Kudos to all those who put in so much effort to put on a great meet. You all did a terrific job.

I didn't take too many photos, but here are a few.

I ran the repair tent … it was busy most of the week. Friday it was nuts! Had a great time.
I gave the distributor seminar Monday and early am 7:00 Tuesday we have a timing session and fireside chat about mechanical stuff on the A’s. Great time !

Larry-

Question for future meets...I was very tempted to go over to the repair tent just to stick my head in and learn. However, you all were super busy and I didn't want to be in the way. Is it okay for on-lookers to go over and learn? There always seems to be something new to learn!

Thanks!

Dave

Larry: How about a recap of the repairs preformed. Learning from someone else's breakdown may be a reason to examine your car more thoroughly for some of the repetitive problems you helped resolve

Ditto on mleder’s post. I’d be interested in knowing the most common issues.

I hung around the repair tent a bit and got some advice from Larry about the death wobble that appeared at this meet. There is always lots to learn.

From what I saw, generator problems, distributors. Larry was working on a carburetor in the pic I took.

There is no doubt that hanging around the repairs tent will teach a guy a lot, especially how to stay out of the way.
I contributed a little at a rally in Reno a few years ago and was amazed at how under prepared some cars were for even a modest drive. I'd rate poor workmanship and poor quality parts high on the list of culprits.

Milford, your last picture is of fellow Fordbarner Randall Strickland's all original 1929 Phaeton that received a MARC of Excellence and Originality Award in Fine Point.

Larry enjoyed the distributor seminar, should have spoke up and told how I get a broken dist, out without pulling head when all else fails

Yes. I should have added some notes about the pics. A very cool car. I talked to Randall the first day of the meet.

Watching Larry perform magic on the cars needing help at the repair tent was great and informative.
The one thing that didn't go as planned was the "starting car" That was the car that had been in a barn for years and hopefully it would be started at the meet. I helped Larry retrieve the 1930 Coupe, but the engine or other parts were frozen and Larry deemed it not possible to start.
I sure enjoyed helping Larry as needed.

Doug
Thanks for the post and yes we had a great time. Vince V and John also went and we had a great time. Sadly the camshaft was froze on the start up and the valve chamber a ball of rust. Crank turned, but cam gear teeth gone and no way that engine had a chance to run. Isn’t even a candidate for a rebuild.
Great time guys and thanks for the help Doug !!

The meet won’t happen in 2024, they’re doing every other year, meeting in the odd years. Next meet is 2025 for MARC.

There is a potential National summer meet happening in 2024. There was talk a year or two ago about staggering the meets but that might be changing. Nothing set in stone but keep an eye on official MARC channels for updates.

North Carolina was mentioned as a potential site, but it has not been confirmed. I hope so.

I hope MARC can keep the holding meets annually. These are hard to schedule and require a lot of support from the membership and chapters. It's important to support our national clubs, so please join both MARC and MAFCA if you are not already a member.

What is the color combo of that '30 Dlx. Roadster in Post #1??

Chicle and Copra?

Looks too dark for those colors maybe it is the way the light plays on the car.

Thanks

Ashville, NC is the site for the 2024 MARC National Meet, plans are in the final stages for hotels, meet dates and etc. That was the buzz in Hamliton as heard from Board members.
