I have two 21 stud engines. One has thru bolts pony
On the main caps, the other does not. I
Assume the one with thru bolts is a 32. The
Other 33 or latter. Is that a correct statement?

The one with through bolts could be 32-34. From 35 on they used studs

Post pics of the front of both blocks.We can then determine if you have a 32 block.

Nearly, but not completely conclusive as I have an early '33 block with angled drain cocks and a recess-less front (admittedly the only one I've ever seen).

David,Years ago a friend had an early 33 block which I saw at his place.Recess-less and angled petcocks.So that makes 2.If he posts a pic we might see the petcock position.

The bare block is the one with the thru bolts.

The block in your photos is representative of all but the earliest '33 through the '34 model year V8s.

I was commenting on the bare block in the photo on the left. Does the block on the right have a vent tube in the right front corner of the opening covered by the intake manifold?

I have one also, angled drains plus pan rail bosses for straight down pet cocks.

That might well be an early Canadian '33 block which could be installed in either a '32 (in Australia) or a '33 (domestic use or export to Commonwealth countries other than Australia) given that '32 vehicle production in Australia lagged behind that of Canada by five months (the delay caused by local sourcing of '32 bodies). Several of that block version have turned up in Australia.

The recess-less '33 block that I have has no provision in the block casting for the '32 straight-down petcocks.
