Default pressure plate options Q...

Anyone using a 'diaphram' type pressure plate in a model A/B? Any problem and/or benefits to it over, say...ford with counter weights?

What are you looking for in a different plate? Better clamp? Less pedal pressure? You know the 8BA used a 10" clutch and plate to match. The small block Chevy used a 9/10/11" clutch and plate to match. I think Joe Way uses the diaphram plate in his conversion as could I.

The advantage I see in a diaphragm clutch is that there is less pressure required to hold the clutch fully disengaged. I see this as an advantage in less foot pressure and therefore easier on our old knees, and less pressure on the crankshaft thrust bearing.

I agree!
I'm OK with my Model A stock clutch, but I must say that when I drive my friend's 49 Chevy pickup, that cluch is a real pleasure to operate, and I wish it was in my Model A.

I never hold the clutch even waiting at a light. Holding the clutch in puts pressure on the rear thrust and will deteriorate it sooner than just shifting to neutral.

I recently put one in my tudor. It is much smoother than the stock clutch that was in the car when I bought it and also smoother than the V8 clutch that I had put in. It does have a slightly odd feel to it but worth the change. Like James, I don't hold it down at stop signals.

Both..'better clamp' and more importantly 'less pedal pressure'...as have had operations on both knees and not getting better with age !

Ok, so what make/model # should I be looking for

Observation
POSITIVES: regarding diaphram type vs finger(s) type. I'm not an engineer, but common sense tells me that the 'multiple' contacts of a diaphram pressure plate would be easier on the throwout bearing(i.e.-distrubuting force); would provide better mechanical advantage(ergo less leg power necessary), more even pressure/less wear on clutch disc.

Negative: the 'counter weights' on the three finger pressure plate provide MORE pressure (centrifugal force) on the disc...as rpms increase. Better clamping force? Whereas , diaphram type doesn't have counter weights.
Am I wrong in my observations?

I have thought about this. Here is a link to a post by Joe Way.
