I have no idea. One of the many things I wish I had the opportunity to ask my dad about.

Henry must have realized the advantages of a centrifugal distributor advance mechanism fairly early on as the model B was equipped with that feature. My model A, at present with the advance not operating through the full range of advance drives much smoother and responds more quickly to the accelerator pedal, at least up to 30 mph then I have to use the column lever for more advance.
I'm thinking that the lifter chamber cover may not have proper clearance and is not allowing the Taurus to move through the total 30 degree range. I won't know until after the first of the year.
I've driven in that sort of traffic; very hard on clutches too.

A follow up on the Model A centrifugal advance assembly which installs in the valve chamber is as follows.
I removed the side cover which is a full flow oil filter mod. which I installed at the same time as the advance kit. There is no sign of any interference with the rotation of the shaft or taurus. I was given the option to recalibrate or have my money refunded along with ALL shipping costs. I will get a refund. I'm not here to reinvent the Model A. This is for information only, I'm not looking for advice, Thanks,
Chet
