Re: Not model a, but towing power of dodge ram
I had a Australian Chrysler by Chrysler, also known to my mates as the mafia staff car, for many years, it had a 360 in it and it was the best vehicle I have ever towed anything with. I was towing a mates 77 falcon coupe to the annual street machine show in Canberra, He was in his other car, which was a Holden commodore, and we're going up a long hill. As he gets beside me, I put the foot down a bit, not enough to open the secondaries on the carb and start to pull away from him. When we got to the next fuel stop, I asked him why he backed off, "nah, didn't back off, it was going as hard as it could". Also, on the return trip, as we got into Melbourne, I pull up at a set of lights beside a V8 holden that was already there, admittingly, it was only the little 253 ci'er, but still a V8. The driver looks over at me, and I look back and smugly smile back. The light goes green and we're both off. As I get over a car length in front, I look in the mirror and his eyes are almost through the windscreen in disbelief as he also gets passed by the falcon on the trailer. I reckon he sculked home and put his car up for sale the next day. It was just a shame the body rusted away around that engine. As for only having one make of car, it doesn't bother me what you have, as long as it does what you require of it. If you liked the Dodge, stick with the brand and get another. The mopars I've owned have never failed me, and I still have 2, a 1929 desoto tourer and a 1971 charger.

Geeze, I tow my A and piles of parts just fine with a 94 Dodge Dakota with a 3.9 L. V6. I don't have many hills and such to deal with though. Rod

Re: Not model a, but towing power of dodge ram
I made my first trip pulling the Model A with my 2011 F150 Ecoboost. The truck has tons of power and I am very pleased with the fuel economy. You need to look at the total package when it comes to towing. Power is nice but you also need to be able to stop and control what you are towing. So far i am very happy with the Ecoboost and what it offers.

Re: Not model a, but towing power of dodge ram
I would say towing a Model "A",is relevent to a Model "A" forum. What it boils down to, is just about any truck can tow a simple open trailer, with a Model "A" on it.

Re: Not model a, but towing power of dodge ram
I would not buy any truck to tow without a diesel.
