You can hot wire it to aid diagnosis and thus eliminate the pop out and ammeter as possible culprits. Diagram here

I have a New Idle Question in this thread about idle problems.

Engine starts easy, runs well, idles a low enough RPM sound. But, when I let OFF the accelerator for shifting, after revving the engine, or other reasons to "throttle down" the RPM and engine take an inordinate amount of time to reach the idle speed/RPM. Like 5-10 seconds once accelerator pedal is released until engine reaches idle speed.

Is it as simple as I have forgot to lubricate a linkage somewhere?

The carburetor was rebuilt by a knowledge member of my club and the car always starts immediately and she purrs. So, I am fairly sure the carb is not the problem. The only issue is, it takes a while to reach idle speed once pedal is released.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Fast-Revving-n-the-Smokys

Check the linkage assembly on the backside of the engine, it has two hole holes , also the return spring may be weak or partially broken.

BTW it ok to start a new thread, some people won’t respond to old threads

Big Hammer, thanks for the experienced tip. I appreciate it.

I am new and learning, only owned a Model A for a few months.

I started a thread one time and I received several hotlinks where "something similar to this has been discussed elsewhere".
I am just trying to go with the flow and acquire some of the valuable info from all you smart and experienced guys.
