Joe, thank you for the explanation. Makes good sense regarding the various metals and usage.

Re: Aluminum radiators, anyone have any experience?
I just bought one for my 29, it cost 288 dollars with free shipping. It has the top fill, just haven't got around to installing it. The old funnel radiator just gave up. It measures out to a good fit. Will post after I get it installed.

Re: Aluminum radiators, anyone have any experience?
We have been in communication with a company out of China that is going to make Model A radiators in aluminum. They are setting up a warehouse in NC and say they will let me see one when their warehouse is operational. I will post something as soon as I see one.

Theo
Glad to hear the aluminum radiator is performing well. It should last a long time provided it was welded together correctly. By the way are the tanks aluminum and are they welded to the core? |

Re: Aluminum radiators, anyone have any experience?
Theo, I really like the look of the polished tank with the painted fins.
Thanks for posting. |

Re: Aluminum radiators, anyone have any experience?
Saw the pics of the aluminum radiator. With the all aluminum tanks this unit should last a long time since they usually fail at the tank connection ring to the core. Looks like a quality product.

Re: Aluminum radiators, anyone have any experience?
My neighbor bought a new aluminum radiator for his 1957 MG five years ago, and he had to replace it this summer because it had already rotted through. He replaced it with a new copper/brass radiator. Too bad that he had to buy two new radiators in the last five years. Yesterday I installed a new radiator from Mac's into our 1929 Tudor. It looked identical to the original radiator that I have been running for the last 45 years. The new "American made" radiator bolted right up and fit the hood well just like it did with the old Ford radiator. I replaced the old original brass/copper radiator because it had developed too many pin holes. Bought the new one on Mac's 10% off sale for about $475. I told my wife that with our new radiator for the tudor, we are now ready for another 45 years of driving. I also had to replace the radiator hoses and the lower hose metal tube because they were just too bad to trust them any more. I also found that I had to snug up on all of my frame to body bolts as they has all had worked loose over the years.

Re: Aluminum radiators, anyone have any experience?
thanks guys! Just to verify the one that I ordered was from a company out of Michigan, they make them on site there. I looked into the ones from china but unfortunately they didnt make one for a 30-31 at the time.
And if anyone was wondering what paint I used on the core, its eastwood satin black radiator paint and I finally put the half hood back on. clears the radiator perfectly. Heres a pic |
