Default 1953 Ford Pickup - 6 cylinder fuel pump

Ok, so this is not a Flathead V8 but the 1953 Ford Pickup also came with a six cylinder motor. I know, it looks weird sitting where a V8 should be but hey, it is still a Ford even though it has some goofy stuff attached.
Like the fuel pump with the glass sediment bowl sitting upside down on top of the pump instead of the bottom. Doesn't make sense. Does it work?

Chev did the same thing on their pumps. There should be a circular mesh in there. I drive a '53 6 and love it. Newc

Used the same type of pump in 54 - went underneath on the 55's and up - at least on the V8's.

That upside down sediment bowl pulls gas into the diaphragm through a metal mesh high in the glass bowl. Sediment should settle at the bottom and is not get drawn into the pump. The pump works well for me on my 53 sedan.
