Default Flathead V8 to Model A Tranny...

I have a Mitchell synchronized tranny and I am considering a V8. Which year model flatheads will bolt up?
Thanks

Even though I'm a new guy, I realize that graphic means the original poster should ask that question on the HAMB site.

There are adapters to mount Model A & B engines to V8 transmissions but I have never heard of an adapter to mount a V8 engine to a Model A transmission.

You may be money ahead if you sell the syncro Model A trans and buy a V8 trans outright.

I don't see why he would. Asking about bolting a flathead V8 to a Mitchell Trans? What am I missing?

Funny you should ask, I'm just finshing making one. I do not think any one makes one. Mine is about a 1/2 thick and has a bolt pattern for the V8 and Model A transmission. It also moves the starter to the right side.

Hello: You may want to talk to Bendtsen's in Ham Lake MN. 763 - 767 -4480.

They make a lot of transmission adaptors, and will do custom work.

Good luck with your project. Here is the link.http://www.transmissionadaptors.com

You probably will not find anything "off the shelf" because attaching a stock Model A transmission to a V8 is a very "dumb" idea. No syncros, not strong enough, V8 transmissions available for V8, etc. Having said that you might ask Mitchell if their transmission is strong enough. My advice, sell the Mitchell and use a V8 transmission.

I 'am running a F 150 4 speed with a Model A truck bell housing. That is what was in my hill climb roadster. I'm not going to use it for hill climbs any more, so in goes the flathead V8. So instead of finding a housing, just made a adapter.
That way if I want to put the 4 cylinder back in no big deal.
