Re: mangled the fan blade
get an aluminum 2 blade! dont try to save yours as it is now junk as the metal is weakened.
i beleive all the parts houses carry the same aluminum 2 blade. looks identical to origional

Re: mangled the fan blade
I bought my two bladed aluminum fan from Bratton's. Looks great and very well balanced.

Re: mangled the fan blade
Agree, (2 blade aluminum), & buy "todays" improved aluminum 2 blade from a current responsible Model A vendor -- & do not try to obtain one from e-bay or a swap meet vendor who might be trying to get rid of their "former" 2 blades from a few years ago when they did not properly fit the water pump steel shaft.

Re: mangled the fan blade
I lift by using eye bolts in #2 and #4 spark plug holes, or by using the water intake and intake manifold and a nylon rope.

Re: mangled the fan blade
Bought the new aluminum two-blade fan from Snyder's. Bratton's would be a good place to buy too.
Love it, fits great balanced real nice too plus now I never worry about the fan coming apart like I used to There are a lot of good radiators and hoods that will be bunged up in the future by people still using the original steel fan! |

Re: mangled the fan blade
Here's a better picture of the sling I often use. I also use seat belts in the same manner, or through the spark plug adaptors. There are different qualities of rope, and the rope I buy is woven, not just twisted.
Normally I have a white paper towel in the distributor hole. |

Re: mangled the fan blade
Speaking of engine lifts, SeaSlugs, you'll have to forgive me, but this picture of your's is a classic. Glad it worked out for you. I really think you need to patent it and sell posters of it. You could retire early.
My dad often made similar rigging to get a job done, however I had to take him to the clinic for stiches once when the lawn mower fell on his hand and cut it. Here is a better picture that SeaSlugs posted in reply #14: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...engine+lifting Last edited by Tom Wesenberg; 10-11-2013 at 01:42 PM. |

Re: mangled the fan blade
Thanks for the suggestions. I dropped the motor because the forklift I was using tilted when I stepped on the valve body control levers..DUH!!
