I guess the guy in the middle does not worry about the lead fumes, of course I worked in a radiator shop in the 70's and did a lot worse, no mask, and I used to dump pure muratic acid in them to make them shiny clean inside, only wearing a pair of gloves

I looked at the picture and I looked at the picture. I am thinking that they are installing the threaded bracket that the fuel line goes to, and not the fuel sender. The fuel sender would have been on the top not the side.

First thing I noticed was the "safety gear". I thought wow this is a first in any Ford factory picture I've seen....ahead of their time.

Doubt very much that that they were worried about lead fumes, look more like heat shields.

Ditto on the Asbestos.

Playing with loaded dice, Lead poisoning or Mesothelioma? Or both!

Would those tanks be possibly for pickups to stand behind the seat ? As kids we used to break thermometers open to get the contents to rub on coins to make them shiny. In later years, my partner and I did construction and closed in under a lot of cottages using sheets of asbestos and sawing away without masks with dust flying every where ! I also smoked for many years and at 79 I'm still here and very healthy. Go figure . Luck has been on my side I guess ?

The iron workers bucking rivets inside the Golden Gate towers weren't so lucky.
(hot rivets & red lead paint)
