Source for Hand Brake Bands?
My ‘37 Model 79 needs new hand brake bands. I’ve got 2 complete brake sets (pairs) but all 4 are in need of being relined or replaced.
Looking at Model 51’s book I see a part number of 51-2609, the green bible doesn’t show a “2609” part number at all, but a “2610” for ‘37 (‘28-‘39) I’m having no luck finding anything on the net. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks! |

Re: Source for Hand Brake Bands?
If you have good shoes, they can be lined. Hopefully a member chimes in about a relining service somewhere in the midwest that they had good luck with.

Brake Materials and Parts, Fort Wayne, Indiana can probably reline for you. Also, try Fort Wayne Clutch.

Re: Source for Hand Brake Bands?
Looks like 2609 is the brake band and lining, 2610 is the brake band and
2620 is the lining. |

Good catch! After you posted I looked deeper into the bibles notes, and I agree, the 2620 is just the lining I think. My bands have 20 holes/rivets per shoe/band assembly. But the bible says it looks like the 20 rivet ones should have 4 pieces of lining. So I'm confused...again. I think I'll call the places posted and see what I can find out. Thanks fellas |
