Model A Shock Arm Length
From what I understand, Ford used a few different patterns of shocks and shock arms on the As as time progressed. I also understand that the arms are different lengths for the front and rear. For some reason, I cannot find any concrete information on this, and parts suppliers don't list the lengths of any arms.
What are the lengths of the factory shock arms (from center pivot bolt to shock link ball) on a Model A? Specifically, 30-31 style. Thanks in advance. |

(for shocks & other details)
Gary - is that book available to the general public? looks to be a good reference for technical details (aka: scale model building) thanks |

Parts houses have it, or the two national clubs.

this is the best picture i can find of an exploded view front axle & partial suspension. i am believing the front lever shock dogbone connects to point labeled "3030 assy." maybe the leaf spring shackles go into the inner eyes, but am unsure of the use for the outboard eyes on the bracket. any chance someone could explain? thanks |

Re: Model A Shock Arm Length
Les Andrews model a ford mechanics handbook,
ISBN 0-9658240-0-4, will be your best reference for assembling the model a front axle. Your diagram is 1932, not for the model a front axle. |

Re: Model A Shock Arm Length
The Stipe shocks on my '29 roadster a 2 years old. I measured them on the car in my 9 degree garage with a very cold tape. Best I could tell the front arm is 7 1/4" overall and the rear is 8 1/2" overall. Bill
