Chassis number Location
I think I know the answer, but I'll ask the question any way. Has anyone been able to get the chassis number without lifting the body off the chassis? Pencil rubbing after just loosening the nuts and prying the body up? Not my car, but I'd like to know just how early an AR it is, the engin numbers look goofy, but so much of the car is early. Owner doesn't want to spend the money, this info isn't of interest to him. Bob

Re: Chassis number Location
Even after lifting my 29 Tudor body a couple inches and using a mirror, I couldn't find my number.

Re: Chassis number Location
The number should be on top of the frame rail on the drivers side a few inches behind the rear motor mount . We could see the number on our 31 roadster without actuallu removing the body. The running board splash aprons and body bolts were removed. I could slightly shift and raise the body withoud actually removing it .

Re: Chassis number Location
Yes, but if you have to have someone from the Dept of motor Vehicles confirm the number on the right frame rail, would they expect you to remove the body so that they can easily see it without getting dirty or getting a kinked neck??? That's a dilema that I currently have. I have owned a never-been-apart 1929 standard coupe since 1978, and haven't had the title transferred to my name yet because of the ridiculous hassle of getting a "VIN inspection."

Re: Chassis number Location
Its a hell of a note but they can actually make it as tough as they want to. They seem to enjoy giving the model A guys a hard time .
