OK. I left out one little glitch.

After I put the two gallon container of gas in I knew the carburetor was empty so I switched on my electric pump to fill it. Nothing. I didn't want to run my battery dead trying to pump the gas up with my mechanical pump so I thought about rolling backward down the incline I thought I'd stopped on, turn around, and coast down the hill to start. It wasn't the incline I thought it was. I couldn't budge it. Just then a guy stopped to see if I needed help. When he was about to help me push it (Dad's on crutches and no help) I decided to try the pump again and it worked this time, filled the carburetor, started right up, and off we went. Dad was pretty scared for a bit but I wasn't. I've had much worse than a balky fuel pump.

I had no idea how timely our Pony Express trip last weekend was until I opened up Google today and saw the Google Doodle celebrating the 155th anniversary of the first letter delivered by the Pony Express on April 14, 1860! For anyone that missed the Doodle here it is: https://www.google.com/doodles/155th...e-pony-express Click on it for all the action. It's a PacMan type game to pick up the mail without hitting the cactus.

Have fun!

Great trip with Dad - I have been across country with my Dad in 2000. It was a hoot, let me tell you! His famous line was, "who owns all this land out here?!?!"

Thanks for letting us ride along ....

Don't know if you saw this story of the drive on the railway bed last year: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...anscontinental If not, give it a watch. I'm not sure I'll redo that on another drive.
