Default New Transmission stand design.

Last evening I designed a new transmission stand from some scrap and a 3/4" x6" pipe , base for the pipe, 1.5"x3"x12" tubing scrap. Thought I would share it with you guy's. Frank PKNY

Looks like it threads into the lower drain plug hole? I wonder if the threaded pipe will take the pressure and not snap off? Maybe a brace or cradle for the front part to attach or sit on? It's a simple but should work fine.

Correct it screws into the drain plug 3/4" pipe thread is what the plug is. The pipe is plenty strong enough , should not need any further bracing.

It's probably fine, but I've never been excited about supporting a trans case from the drain hole, as the cases are pretty thin. My brother makes this stand that bolts to the bellhousing and supports the back of the case.

I guess I have no imagination. A very simple but effective way to support it.

I think it depends on whether you're "showing them" or working on them (in my mind). You can take your regular adjustable engine stand and bolt the four arms to the front of the case - in a manner that lets you still get through the arms with parts. You may need some tubular extensions and longer bolts. This makes it easy to rotate the trans when you're working on it - which works for me.

update. I took the advise of Neal and made a front support out of an old scrap hinge. When you remove the two bolts you just fold down the hinge and unscrew the pipe thread base. makes a nice stable platform. Here are a few photo's of my rebuild. Frank[

Here are two I made up several years ago. I've been using the angle iron design just recently. It's all bed frame angle.

Not only is that a VERY NICE stand, but some of the guys would probably be quite interested in your method of setting those RIVETS. DD

Liking the stands, guys, I haven't done many gearboxes, but I think the last one I did I just sat it in a 15" wheel. Not great.

I like the idea of being able to flip it on it's front or side. My minds racing now.

I need to scrounge some angle and get a bit more classy.

Mart.
