Default How do I access the wiper motor in '39 Sedan

My '39 Fordor's stock wiper motor does not function as the vacuum hose going to it has dessicated over the years and is cracked in so many places that a sieve would hold more water.

The wiper motor is mounted behind the headliner. What's the best way to access the wiper assembly without damaging the headliner?

Thanks,

COE Dan

Remove the headliner carefully. Take your time. It's not a big deal.

My 38 Deluxe has a removable header panel, this gives access to both the wipers as well as the windscreen hinges, I thought 39's were the same?

cheers

My '38 deluxe's wiper motors are behind the headliner. I wish it were as simple as a header panel because the original headliner is thin and fragile.I had to use upholstery glue to reattach it to the steel structure because it is too short to reach the tack strip in several areas. Maybe he header panel is an Australian thing.

Remove the rear view mirror and molding, then carefully pull the headliner back just far enough to get to the motor.

Thanks, all...I kinda figured that's what I had to do. Sounds like a large expenditure in care here beats a large expenditure in coin to replace a ruined headliner.
