Default '30 Coupe roof insert

I recently purchased a top insert kit to restore the roof. In the kit came a hidem welt. Is this supposed to be used in place of the aluminum moulding? It looks like it would be a LOT easier to use than trying to tack and bend the moulding around the corners. Which is which?

THANKS in advance

depends on what you want.
hidem is easier, aluminum looks better.

What is the best method to get the hidem to lay flat when going around the rear corners on a coupe, or late sedan? Do you slice the inside edge, cut pie slices out of
inside edge?
I'm this close to completing the job, but not happy with how the welting looks in
the corners. Any advice greatly appreciated! Mike
