39 Deluxe worth saving?
Bought a piece of property and found what I believe is a 39 deluxe in the woods. The car has been sitting on the ground and has significant rust. Appears to still have the original motor. If someone is an expert on these models I'd love to send some pics to see if there is any value left. (can't figure out how to upload here)

Hey, old iron is always of value! And we can school you on loading pics here too!
Reply to this thread, and hit the Go Advanced button... Then scroll down to the Additional Options and hit the Manage Attachments button. Then from the window popup, nit one of the Choose File buttons That will produce a list of pictures on your computer, so hit one... Back to the previous popup, hit the Upload button. (One thing here, there's a size limit, so if you run over, just reduce the pixels (or whatever) with your computer.)

Re: 39 Deluxe worth saving?
Additionally, you might notice the water in the background. This area is low, so the car is basically sitting in the water after a rain.

Re: 39 Deluxe worth saving?
It may be a '39 but it has a later 8BA engine in it.

Re: 39 Deluxe worth saving?
So a 40. Cool lines, but it is rotted pretty bad. Trunk lid is the worse, but there are pin holes under the rain gutter as well. Can't see pans yet. Couldn't drag it out with a truck. Gonna have to use a tractor. Wheels and steering are locked. So again, any value at all?

Re: 39 Deluxe worth saving?
Well, yeah, it's worth something. It would be better to sell it to someone who will salvage the good parts than to crush it. Hopefully there is a flathead enthusiast local to you who will rescue it. Fill your profile with your general location, maybe you will be near a 'barner.

Re: 39 Deluxe worth saving?
If it had jump seats, the brackets and frames are worth a pretty penny. That is if they are still there. Pull it out and take a look. Charles

Re: 39 Deluxe worth saving?
As has been said it's a 40 standard with a 49-53 motor. Pull it out and start looking at what can be used. Also where are you located?

Re: 39 Deluxe worth saving?
By the way, what is the difference in the 39 Deluxe and 40 coupe standard out of curiosity?

Re: 39 Deluxe worth saving?
There are quite a few differencs, 39 was the last year for the large bolt pattern wheels, 39 windshield cranks out and has wipers above the window.39 has tear drop tailights and 40 standard has one seargent tail light (yours has two, someone must have added) 40 was the first year for sealed beam headlights, the dash is different, garnish moulding is different throughout, steering wheels. the list goes on. The front clips and bodies look very similar and some parts are interchangeable

New Bob Drake floor, trunk lid and drip rails and you're 1/2 way there.

Re: 39 Deluxe worth saving?
you might still have parts worth selling, radio, antenna, dash. grille, garnish mouldings, steering column, front and rear axle, flathead, roof, wiper linkage, trans, wheels, odd parts like the radiator brackets or wire cover on the firewall, seats, if it has the rear jump seats I would be interested. I never parted out a car before and just recently did on a 39 deluxe fordor. It was alot of fun and I learned a little and made a couple bucks at it. I removed some of the pics to help eliminate people asking but check out the thread and look at begin date to now and still selling small stuff.
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=122798 I think you should pull it out and salvage what you can. Or list it on the HAMB, there are some very creative talented people on there that could build some kind of rat out of it. Good Luck and keep us informed.
