Good luck on the test I 'm sure you will be just fine & pass with flying colors. If you have to drive just don't scare the instructor & try doing a donut when you are finished & have passed. Be sure your car is in good working condition & clean. I once saw an instructor refuse a girl because the back of her car was full of pop cans.True story. He told her to clean her car up & reschedule an appointment.

Good luck! You've got your priorities straight already, by the looks of your signature...

I have an eight-year old that would idolize you, if we lived closer (he plays a 3/4 Strat and wants a '32 roadster).

Best of luck! I have several Grandkids in the process of getting their licenses! Quite an adventure for them and myself. A license opens up a lot of opportunities and responsibilities .Enjoy!

The best thing that I can tell you is....Remember when you come to a stop sign...
It means a complete stop.
That was part of my job in addition to investigating fatalities. I gave thousands of those tests. For some reason, some people seem to think that a slow down or an almost stop is good enough.
Best wishes on your test.

The permit is just a written test right? If you put in the time studying you will be fine. If you have to guess try logic... believe it or not some of the road rules were logical at one point.

For my daughters road test the examiner got bent out of shape at her because he told her to put her flashers on. she had no clue what he meant. Of course she knew exactly where her hazards or emergency lights switch was.

Ah, the memories!! When I took my driver's license test in Massachusetts in 1958, I needed to drive a manual shift car since they gave a restricted license for automatics and I sure didn't want one of those. So, I borrowed a used 1949 Ford from a friendly local dealer to drive for the test. Little did I know, but the heater core had a small leak and was dripping anti-freeze onto the floor on the passenger side. In those days Massachusetts cops wore tall boots that were spit-shined from one end to the other. You can guess what happened!! I wonder if he was ever able to get a decent shine back on the areas that ended up soaked with ethylene glycol! Wonder of wonders - I did get my license!!

Way to go now don't go doin something stupid celebrating OK. Leave the cell phone off while driving also. Friends of the wifes daughter passed her drivers test & wrecked the car 3 days later while texting. This was a few years back. Just a friendly reminder as it is not always your fault.
Story on me goes that if I had all the money I spent fixing my wrecked cars I would be wealthy today. This however was back in my stupid youth(1950s) when I thought I was invincible. Most times it was because I never slept except while driving. Lots of stories there boy even on a motorcycle. Enjoy your new freedom but stay alert.

Congratulations and well done. Lots of good advice here and a lot of people who wish you well. Hope you can learn a bit from a bunch of older guys who've made mistakes - so you won't make the same ones. Enjoy your new privilege!

no it was a written permit test. we've got a GDL Licencing system (graduated drivers licencing) up here in Minnesota, so basically i keep my permit for 6 months, then i get to take the road test for my licence.

We have the same here in PA. I went on my birthday to get my permit and exactly 6 months later to get my liscense. I can't believe that was almost 8 years ago.
