Re: 6 volt 2 speed wiper motor
From what I ahve heard, if you go with the modern electric wiper motor (12V?) then I don't think you can open your windshield. Otherwise you are going to have to find an original electric.

Re: 6 volt 2 speed wiper motor
Check out the first sticky:
WINDSHIELD WIPERS 3. www.newportwipers.com Electric "aftermarket" Wipers They claim that the windshield tips out normally, and although they are 12v, they also have an inverter to use for 6v applications. They are 2-speed, with an option for intermittent. |

Re: 6 volt 2 speed wiper motor
Put in a turn signal relay thing to make the wiper intermittent!

Every month I see an ad in the Model A News for Model A Wiper Service. They sell parts and also (I think) sell units outright ($375 to $465 depending on model and year). I haven't purchased one but you may want to consider that as an option. http://www.modelawipers.com/order.html Supergnat |

Re: 6 volt 2 speed wiper motor
Mike's sells a wiper motor that can work on your 6V system. With the motor installed on the inside you can still open the windshield about two inches if you use a later model spring loaded wiper arm. You can get the motor, arm, blade, wiring----the whole enchilada for about 75 bucks. I've always found that two inches is really all you need to open the windshield. The motor from Mike's uses a 4 amp fuse. JMHO

Re: 6 volt 2 speed wiper motor
The spring loaded wiper arm and blade that I used on mine came from a vintage
VW beetle. I "borrowed" the wiper arm and blade from my '59 VW. Works great. Jack

Re: 6 volt 2 speed wiper motor
Snyders has new 12 volt and 6 volt wiper motor, blade and arm that mounts as an original vacuum motor on the windshield frame. It uses arm and blade that are being reproduced for original electric motors. Will clear visor, etc and allow full swing of windshield.. It is in their new catalog which will be mailed out soon. Also on their website.. I think the part number is A-17507-6 Saw it in their store.

Re: 6 volt 2 speed wiper motor
Del,
The Syder system will work, but my experience with this system is that it is inferior to a spring loaded blade, especially in a good wind. The wiper arm does not hug the windshield nearly as well. The only way I would not use the spring loaded arm would be if I wanted a fine point car. My car is no trailer queen and is driven in all kinds of wind and rain. Been there, done that. Jack

Re: 6 volt 2 speed wiper motor
This system has only been on the market for a week.. might give it a chance. Myself, I rely on rain-x and a vacuum motor. Been there, done that, got the CD and the Teeshirt

Heck, I can't compete with the "T" shirt! The shirt trumps all of the other options.

Re: 6 volt 2 speed wiper motor
I agree with Rick in Mass, RainX is nice, but if you DRIVE your car----NOTHING beats
a good wiper. Jack
