Default Broken speedo cable on the 38 Dlx

I had the 38 out for a 100 mile drive after installing a rebuilt coil from Skip. Just in time for my 26th wedding anniversary. The car worked great but the speedo cable broke on the way home about 2 inches from the transmission.
Can I purchase just the inner Cable?
I hope so. Who sells them?

I don't know for sure it they still carry them, but many auto parts jobbers carried a universal cable repait kit that could be made to the length of the old one

I think that's actually what C&G sells.

The bottom 4 inches was dry and it was probably the first 100 mile drive since the early 90s.
I'll try a new inner cable and go from there.

Also, remove the cable from the back of the speedo, give the speedo drive a spin with your fingers and see how free the actual speedo spins. The cable on my '38 also broke and it was the speedo had
seized up. If that is the case you will need to pull the speedo apart, clean and lubricate the felt wick to free it up.

I just bought a NOS speedometer for my 47 and from sitting years it hard to turn oiled it up and with egg beater drill works put on 1.5 mile. Maybe try it today on car.
There could be and oil hole on back of speedometer.
