Default Speedometer Dis-assembly how to ?

How does the drive gear come out from the speedo? Looks like it should just unscrew with proper tool. It moves but will not unscrew

If the steel ring on the end is turning, that is what drives the speedometer magnet. To remove the drive gear requires a 2 pronged spanner. The factory staked them on both sides so that they would not self adjust. First of all soak the threads with your favorites penetrant, then try to remove with the spanner. If it refuses, carefully drill the stakes out , stopping when you get to the brass gear housing. 90% of them come out with these methods, time and soaking are your friends. Apply heat to the frame as a last resort, 80+ year old pot metal is not so strong and has a low melting point, it also expands over time. This will cause the shafts to get too tight. I had one that took 3 weeks of soaking to get apart.
