Thumbs down Water temp gauge NG?.

Hello barners just a question , whatwater temp gauges you guys use and reccomend for a mechinical set up [no 12 volt conversion, so electronic out]. Had installed a rexco gauge and it worked for a year than stopped, tested it in a pot of 212 degree water no reading. I do not know if trouble is in cappilary tube or gauge itself........ thanks bobbycoke

I use the setup, sold by most parts suppliers, with a probe in the upper radiator pipe and a new gage mounted under the instrument panel. I also have a thermostat in the upper radiator hose. This system works great.

Planning on sending in one (maybe more) of my old SW's for a new probe lead. Probably not the cheapest way to get an accute gauge, but it is hard to beat a properly working SW IMHO. Rod

I agree with Rowdy, you can't beat a Stewart-Warner mechanical gauge. I little more pricey than the cheaper bigbox store gauges, but small in comparison to the cost of repairing your Model A engine.

I went through two of the Rex gauges before changing to a SW. Napa sells the SW gauges but they are special order. First one was off by 20 degrees the second one the needle came off.

Got these at O'Reillys. They are mech so no issue with 6 or 12 volt. Put a 6 volt bulb in the back and you are good to go.
