Anyone near Nashville, TN that has a rear hub puller for my 1939 Ford Tudor which they would loan or happy to pay someone with tool to remove my drums. Car down and cannot fix brakes without hub puller. HELP - PLEASE!

We rent out the Winfield heavy duty puller (made for these drums). It's $25.00 for a 2 week period. If you can't find anyone there who can help you, let us know and we can get you the rental details......

Thank you so much for the information. I called these guys and they have the unit on my way. Also, they are sending me new brake shoes which I need. Way to go FORD BARN FORUM!

I went to them. They do not have any. Tooling up now and said would not be ready for 2 weeks. Want to drive car in this great weather and was not willing to risk my great fun on a promise of a future part. Thank you for the information. Ford Barn has been great.

Two weeks long time to have some fun.
In the best there was a problem getting drum off,What they did was jackup the other side off ground,the side you are working on get a big hammer and backoff the nut even with end,and give it a good hit may work for you.

Uh, oh. I have a 39 rear end that has a piece broken out of the brake drum. I bought a replacement off EBay but haven't put it on yet. Is it going to require a special puller to get my brake hub off?

There is a special knocker to replace the axle nut, kinda like a big, long acorn nut except it's flat on the surface that it hit with the hammer. They didn't use to be very expensive, I bought mine 40 to 50 years ago. But you do have to make sure you hit the knocker square so as to not bend the end of the axle. It's been a long time since I have even seen mine but it's around here somewhere.

You can use a pitman arm puller with 2 bolts and 2 wing nuts style, parts store should have one.

This is the first tool I purchased when I bought my `35. I still remembered the old days and what a pain it was to remove the rear hubs. I also bought two spare keys for the axle. I think I bought my tool from Mac's and it came in a little wooden storage box.

It was Memorial Day around 1953 my father and I got up early to take flowers to the cemetery before I went to work at the Texaco Station. I was driving m my `40 Ford Deluxe Tudor. We had placed the flowers and traveling back on a country rock base road in third gear when the axle key sheared, leaving us stranded. We left the car sitting and caught a ride back into town, about ten miles or so. That evening after work I went back with a borrowed puller and retrieved my car.
