Default starter band question

A while back I read about the letter and number stamped in the starter band to determine the year of the starter.Is this post still around? I think it was a chart showing the info.

They are on the generator and starter band.

The new judging standards have them.

J = 1929
K = 1930
L = 1931

The number is the month 10 = October, 3 = March.

The JS states that all bands had numbers.??

Sorted a box with about 30 in it and only 2 had letters/numbers

Steve Plucker refuted this also.

There were three basic band designs. The first was smooth on both ends. The second had two locating dimples stamped on each end. The third type had one dimple on each end. The first type is common with no date code as many were produced prior to the code requirement. The third type is fairly common with no code as it appears it was dropped in mid 1932. We've not been able to find the second type with no code. I was confident I had one as it appeared unmolested. I stripped it and found that not only was it there but it was a deep stamping.
