reds headers
went to fit some reds headers today but could not quite get them in. only tried driver side so far. looks like i will need to jack up engine to get it in (prob 1/2" or so?), how far can you jack it? will chatter bars need removing, gearbox mount etc. any other probs to look out for? thanks.

Re: reds headers
I had mine bolted to the engine when I was putting the engine on the frame. The passenger side wanted to hit the frame so I took that side header off. Set the engine down and then bolted the header back on. I don't have any problem taking them off and putting them back on without having to move the engine, the chatter rods, or the starter. Its a 36 pickup body but I'm using a 40 frame. I've been told the frames are the same so you really shouldn't be having any problems either.

Re: reds headers
On my 35, I spent the better part of the afternoon getting the drivers side on but they did finally fit.

Re: reds headers
I have only heard positive things about the fit of Red's headers. I hope to put some on my 37' soon!

Re: reds headers
If you remove both front motor mount bolts you can raise the front of the engine at least 2 1/2"s. Nothing else but the oil fill cap needs to be removed. Don't dent the pan jacking it up. G.M.

Re: reds headers
Did you call Jim at Red's Headers and ask him or tell him you were having problems?
