Re: Need fair price for good friend...
$50 for both if you are lucky. Not much demand for wide 5s. I put 40s on my 36.

Re: Need fair price for good friend...
$25 each for nice ones that do not have pitted rims should be a good buy.

Re: Need fair price for good friend...
Very nice original '36-'39 wide five wheels with zero rust/rust pitting, original paint, no lug hole damage, good hub cap clips, not bent or curb scrapped, etc., are worth ~ $75.00 each IMO. If you get into the narrower 60 HP or wider truck versions, they become more valuable.
Now when you add a "good friend" to the equation the bottom line may equal a "gift", again JMO.

Re: Need fair price for good friend...
I'm with the gift side of this question. Trouble is that there is hardly a fixed price on wide fives and if they show up at low prices later, there can be a strain on the friendship, worth more than a couple of old wheels, or not. I get strong opinions from other parts where wheels may be more dear than around here where there is a lot of survivors. California is blessed that way. Good Luck: Fred A

Re: Need fair price for good friend...
I was happy to buy a pair off a friend for £50 recently. That's about $70.

Re: Need fair price for good friend...
I have given, or sold at my cost, some rare parts to "friends", only to find out the cars were soon sold after restoration.
It just made their cars, more valuable, and made them more money. I felt, duped, by my "friends". It's best, to sell parts to "friends", at the market price. I have also given parts to friends, who appreciated them and are keeping their cars. This makes me feel good ! MIKE (mikeburch) |

Whenever you needed something fronm him, his item was treated like gold and had a price to match. He's since moved out of state and I lost track of him. I know someone who loaned him some '32 parts for a "mock-up", and, like Mike said, sold the car and then the memory loss set in. You loaned me parts to mock-up the '32? Yeah, gas tank, firewall, etc.? Hmmm, I don't remember that. Real class act. I see him walking around Hershey and wonder if he is up to the same non-sense where ever he lives now. |
