floor shift conversion on 47 tudor
i have a 47 tudor column shift and i just picked up a hurst 3sp syncroloc shifter which i want to put on. the tranny mount is smack dab in the way. does anyone have any advice on how to do this install? right now i just can't picture how to get it done. thanks for any help.

Re: floor shift conversion on 47 tudor
This sure seems like doing it the hard way! Why not swap out for a flow sift transmission?

Re: floor shift conversion on 47 tudor
I believe some of the '70's Mopars had the shifter mounted to the floor, not the tranny

I'd provide a sketch, if I had a way to post a pict. I've had this car and shifting arrangement for over 10 years - no problems. I'm sure you could work it out. just one more opinion... |

Re: floor shift conversion on 47 tudor
Hurst made a kit to mount one of their shifters to 46-48 Fords. Required cutting the floor but bolted on to existing bosses on the transmission/u-joint housing utilizing longer bolts.

Re: floor shift conversion on 47 tudor
oldskool....that is what i needed. i remember having a hurst shifter on my 41 but it was like that when i got it and i couldn't figure out how to mount on my 47. thanks loads and thanks to all for help. i am going to use my hurst cause i like it. i do have a 78 box with a bad cluster and a nice 41 gear set i could use but will save those for another project. my 47 is not a restore it is a old school 50's style hotrod.
